How To Write A Truly Effective To-Do List? The 7 Golden Rules

We find it hard to keep our commitments, or even to see our lives and our organization clearly. So how do we get organized? And how can we motivate ourselves to achieve our goals and undertake our projects? Here’s the To Do List you need to change your life.
1 – Your To Do List should make you dream
All too often, we make the mistake of writing down absolutely everything on our To Do List.
The problem is, going shopping on Wednesday and going to the dentist on Thursday doesn’t really sound like a dream? As a result, we completely neglect our list, even though it’s a powerful tool for taking control of our lives.
That’s why the To Do List has to make you dream, really dream. And, to do this, I invite you to note down only those actions that move you forward in your life.
In concrete terms, this means that you shouldn’t include all the little appointments and activities of everyday life. Write them down in your diary if you’re afraid you’ll forget.
And, in your To Do List, note only the actions you need to take this week to move forward with your current projects and goals.
Do you want to take up sport again, lose weight, get back into reading, start a new professional project, prepare for the next vacation?
Then ask yourself what actions you could take this week to move forward, and write them down on your To Do List.
For example: Monday evening, list all the vacation destinations that make me happy. Tuesday evening, do 30 squats. Wednesday evening, discuss our future vacation destination with my boyfriend or girlfriend. Thursday evening, reading from 9-10pm. Friday evening, do 30 lunges. Saturday morning, go for a 20-minute run. Sunday, decide on vacation destination.
Doesn’t this list make you dream a little? Do you have a feeling it’s going to get you going this week? Go for it!
2 – It has to be clear
A clear To Do List is one that, at a glance, reminds you exactly what your current goals are.
Indeed, for this tool to help you move forward in life, you first need to take some time to refocus.
What’s important to you right now? On what subjects and in what areas do you want to move forward this year or this month?
Choose 2-3 goals or projects. No more than that.
Because if you go off in all directions, you won’t move forward. And if you don’t feel you’re making progress, you’ll get discouraged and give up.
3 – Your To Do List must be precise
A precise To Do List is one in which you know exactly what you have to do during the week.
If you write on your To Do List: this week, lose weight, exercise and plan a vacation, that’s far too vague.
The problem is, the more vague it is, the more we procrastinate. That’s why make sure you detail what you want to do this week.
Do this sports session, do that research…
4 – It must be dated
A dated To Do List is one where you know what you have to do and when.
For example, if you write down: go for a 20-minute run. But you don’t write down the day, you’re very likely to get to Sunday evening and say “Oops, I didn’t go running.
Because to motivate yourself to keep your commitments, you need to know when to do things.
So, when are you going to run this week, when are you going to do this and that?
5 – Your To Do List should only include 2 or 3 things a day
A To Do List with too many things to do in a week is a scary To Do List. And a scary To Do List is a completely discouraging To Do List.
So, for you to feel motivated and move forward in your life, you need a To Do List that gives you confidence in your ability to keep your commitments.
That’s why, to start with, listing just one action a day is ideal. Eventually, listing only 2 or 3 actions a day will be the maximum.
Quite simply, because we’re not machines, we’re human beings. And so, moving slowly but surely is the key.
6 – Your To Do List doesn’t list goals, it lists habits
The interesting thing about your To Do List is that it creates healthy, solid habits.
After all, losing weight is great, but if you’re only going to put it all back on afterwards, you’ll be discouraged.
That’s why, rather than thinking in terms of objectives and actions to be taken, why not think in terms of lifestyle habits?
For example: every Monday, find 10 minutes to do squats, lunges… Every Tuesday evening, eat soup. Every Wednesday, find an hour to go to the gym.
Can you see the difference? That said, remember to start small and work your way up slowly, but surely.
Simply, think a little more in terms of habits than goals. Because having a happy and successful life is based on our habits first and foremost.
7 – It’s to be reviewed every Friday afternoon or evening
Your To Do List is not fixed, nor should it be.
Because imagine doing 20 squats every Monday for the rest of your life, it’s easy to get discouraged. In fact, we need change and novelty to keep our motivation alive.
That’s why every Friday you create a new To Do List for the following week.
Vary the activities. The places. The times too. Maybe include a few people from time to time too. Have fun!
Because getting on with your life and creating a happy, successful life for yourself is a lot of fun.
If it’s not, it’s time to change the way you think and do things. Because it’s your joy that’s your driving force in life.

It was very interesting to read how they both managed in that little room and what challenges they had to face later on outside, it wasn’t so easy. I found the subject very interesting.
I was a bit sad when I finished the book, I would have liked a second part to find out what happened to Jack and his mother .
