What’S Really Important In Life And What Isn’T?

There always comes a time when we feel lost in life and ask ourselves: what is really important in life and what isn’t? Because we have the intuition that in this answer lies true happiness and inner peace. And it’s true. That’s why I’m offering you my answer to this question, in the hope that it will help you find yours. For each person has his or her own answer. That said, we’re all part of the same human family. In other words, we share a lot in common, especially when it comes to happiness.
What’s really important at work?
Work is a big part of our lives, since we devote so much of our time to it. Work is both a means of satisfying our material needs, but also other, more spiritual needs, such as the need to belong, but also the need to contribute to the world, to bring something useful, something positive.
The problem is that work is also one of the main sources of stress and unhappiness in our lives. Because relationships are often conflictual, but above all because, without realizing it, we lose sight of the true meaning of our work.
In fact, with stress, our work is increasingly reduced to a simple means of paying the bills, and that’s all there is to it. What we don’t see is that we’re falling into a vicious circle: the more we reduce our work to the material side, the worse we feel about it.
Because satisfying our material needs is important, but so is satisfying our need to feel useful. So don’t forget these two important things.
And, in the light of these two important things that our work enables us to do, office affairs and inconveniences of all kinds seem less and less important. In fact, don’t stoop to what makes you forget the most important thing. On the contrary, make sure you always come back to what’s most important. Remember what your work allows you to satisfy as essential needs. It’s called putting things into perspective, and it’s really good for you!
What about relationships?
If we’re perfectly honest, we can say that our relationships complicate our lives enormously. They make it more beautiful, but they also complicate it a lot. So what’s really important in our relationships to find happiness and serenity?
I think the most important thing in our relationships is how we feel about the people around us. Because, all too often, we make the mistake of reducing our relationships to how the other person makes us feel. The problem is that the other person is so different, in the sense that we don’t always understand their reactions and actions, that focusing on how the other person makes us feel complicates everything.
In fact, we need to understand that relating to others is difficult. It’s hard because we’re all so different, and what’s more, almost all of us suffer from communication problems. In other words, our relationships are not at all clear. In fact, we spend more time guessing what the other wants, and making the other guess what we want, than we do communicating in a clear and healthy way.
That’s why what’s most important in our relationships is how we feel about others, and what’s less important is how others make us feel. Can you see the difference? Because that’s where your happiness and inner peace lie.
In fact, in this sense, the most important thing in life is to love others, to love them sincerely, to love them with a free and “gratuitous” love. Free, in the sense that others don’t have to do anything special for us to love them, just as we don’t have to do anything special to be loved by others. Love doesn’t need to justify or prove itself. It just is. So what do you think?
What’s really important in life and what isn’t?
What’s really important in our relationship with our bodies
Haven’t you noticed how much time we waste complaining about our bodies? Because it’s not like that, or it’s too much like that. Stop! So, of course, there are things we can change, and things we can’t. But that’s not the point.
But that’s not the question when you’re looking for happiness and inner peace. The question is, what is the true meaning of our body? It’s to be alive. Indeed, without our bodies, we wouldn’t experience life. So why do we torture it so? Why do we constantly criticize it so harshly?
What if the most important thing was to honor and respect our bodies? What would change? Everything!
In fact, understand that the most important thing about our bodies is not that they’re attractive, pleasing or even beautiful, it’s that they’re healthy! And that it’s happy. And a happy body needs a happy mind and heart.
So, the most important thing is to take care of your body, but also your mind and your heart. So, stop looking at the so-called perfect retouched bodies in magazines, and take care of yourself, your happiness, that’s the most important thing. Will you do it?
And in our personal lives?
Society is becoming more and more omnipresent in our lives, and quite recently it has even intruded into our interests, passions and hobbies. In fact, when you listen to society, some hobbies are more important than others. More fashionable, in fact. And, of course, this fashion is constantly changing. And we’re made to feel guilty if we don’t do what everyone else does, and especially if we’re not good at it, not to say the best. Worse still, we’re made to feel guilty if we don’t make our passion, our profession. Stop, stop, stop!
What’s really important? Our personal life, our hobbies, our passions have but one purpose: to cultivate and nourish our inner joy. And that’s quite a program, isn’t it? What nourishes your joy? That’s the most important question for you, to feel happiness and inner peace in life.
So focus on that. Trust yourself, listen to your feelings, your intuitions and give it a try. Do things. That’s the most important thing in life, to do things that you enjoy in the moment. What’s not important is what society thinks of it.
What’s really important in life?
There are so many possible answers to this question that it makes you dizzy, and can even be distressing. In fact, for me, this question leads to another: what’s really important in life, so that when the time comes to die, we feel an inner calm, because we can look back with serenity?
This question can also be distressing, but it’s simply a sign that we need to ask ourselves, not to judge ourselves, but to guide us today and tomorrow.
In fact, the purpose of life is precisely to build this serenity at the moment of our death, and that consists above all in doing our best today. Doing our best to feel good, here and now. And this may require us to make new and better decisions for ourselves and our lives. So, yes, it takes a great deal of courage, but above all it takes self-love.
Because that’s what this life is all about: love. Love of self, love of life and love of others. Every day, we have to ask ourselves: how can I do my best to love? In spite of everything, in spite of difficulties, in spite of ups and downs. That’s the most important thing.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson
Mark Manson’s book challenges conventional notions of what’s really important in life. He advocates a counter-intuitive approach to happiness, stressing the value of focusing on what really matters and just leaving societal expectations behind. Manson argues that by accepting life’s inherent difficulties and choosing meaningful values, individuals can find fulfillment. This book encourages us to re-evaluate our priorities, change our perspective on success, and lead a more authentic and motivated life by understanding what is truly important and what is not.
This book was amazing to read, and I look forward to reading more books by this author. Mark has a way of writing and a point of view that makes reading his books very enjoyable.
I’ve already bought 3 copies as gifts for some of my friends.
