Worrying About Others: 3 Tips For Calming Down

Other people are a source of worry. Misfortunes happen to them, and sometimes they don’t always know how to manage their lives well, and we get stressed out about it, sometimes to the point of it spoiling our lives at certain times. What if we stopped worrying about other people? Not to become selfish people, but more serene ones. Here are 3 tips to help you calm down.
1 – Get the news to stop worrying about others
Sometimes we worry about other people, because we’ve heard from so-and-so that something is wrong.
So we start to let ourselves be overwhelmed by a flood of thoughts, each more stressful than the last.
In fact, we imagine the worst and our heart races. Stop!
There’s no point in worrying about others if we don’t hear directly from those we’re worried about.
In fact, we often alarm ourselves too quickly, too intensely, and when the people concerned tell us about their problems themselves, the stress immediately subsides.
That’s why I wholeheartedly invite you to pick up the phone and call the people you’re worried about.
2 – Offer help, not advice
When we check in with the person we’re worried about, above all, let’s not shower them with advice.
In fact, it’s because we feel we have to “save” the person that we worry so much.
In the end, it’s not so much the person we’re worrying about, but ourselves.
Indeed, worrying about others is first and foremost worrying about ourselves, because we don’t know how to answer this question: “How can I save others?”
The answer is simple. We can’t save others.
But we can listen to them, and that’s even more powerful.
Yes, we can listen to their problems, offering them a safe space in which they can regain their self-confidence and peace of mind. Which is a wonderful gift.
What’s more, we can offer them our help. And, rather than giving them advice: “If I were you, I’d do it like this,” we can say: “How can I help you?
Indeed, understand that you’re not there to save others, but rather to listen to them and offer your help. Nothing more, nothing less.
When I understood this, I gained greater peace of mind in my life.
3 – Stop judging others
There may be people around you for whom you worry a lot and often, maybe even all the time. Maybe even all the time (laughs).
Then it’s time to do something essential: stop judging them.
Stop putting yourself in their shoes and saying: “If I were them, I’d do this. I wouldn’t do that.”
Stop!
Maybe they’re not making the “right” decisions according to you, maybe they’re really getting into trouble, again according to you.
But so what? Yeah, so what?
You can’t save them. And you don’t have to.
Because everyone is free to live their own way, even if that way doesn’t seem “viable” to you.
It’s not your life.
So stop judging these people and stop worrying about them. Just breathe!
In fact, to stop worrying about others is to accept that others live their lives in their own way. Even if we don’t like it.

The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck by Sarah Knight
A cleverly written book. The author has a sense of humor.
This book helped me to build the courage to say no to a lot more things and really focus more on my well-being. I said yes to some events I didn’t want to participate in and yes to other situations I didn’t care about at all. This book was refreshing for me and I recommend it to anyone who needs a little help to have the guts to say no and really think about what they want to spend their time, energy and money on. If you already know all this, this book is good entertainment in every way.
