Summer is drawing to a close and autumn is slowly approaching. The light changes, temperatures drop and so do our energy levels. Indeed, it’s a time of upheaval both outside and inside us. So, how do you take care of yourself in autumn? Here are 15 gentle ideas to help you face this change of season with serenity.
1 – Tackling the autumn energy shift with serenity
Autumn is just around the corner, and it’s the start of a whole process of inner and outer change.
We’re looking forward to gentler activities, and sometimes even to bundling up in slightly warmer clothes.
In other words, goodbye strapless dresses and shorts, and hello pants and little jackets.
But it’s not always easy to get through this transition period. The change of weather, the start of the new school year and the winter we’re beginning to imagine, with its long months of cold and damp.
So, how can we take care of ourselves in autumn, so that we can face all the changes underway and those to come with peace of mind?
Well, taking care of ourselves means taking small moments to do things that make us feel good, that recharge our batteries and soothe us.
In other words, we take a step back from our everyday obligations to indulge ourselves in a moment of gentleness, a moment of magic even.
The problem is, we don’t always know how to take care of ourselves.
That’s why I’m sharing 15 ideas with you. I hope you’ll like them.
2 – 15 ideas for taking care of yourself and enjoying a lovely, gentle autumn
I’d like to invite you to take a look at these 15 sweet ideas for taking care of yourself and looking forward to autumn.
Choose the ones you like best.
Trust yourself.
Above all, give yourself permission to treat yourself and take care of yourself. After all, life isn’t as serious as you think.
What’s more, don’t listen to other people’s opinions, listen to your need for sweetness and take care of yourself.
1 – Prepare yourself good hot drinks throughout the day and evening: hot chocolate above all, but also teas of all colors and good herbal teas in the evening.
2 – Bake a cake: an “amandine-style” pear tart, or do the first tests of Halloween cookies.
3 – Take a walk in a forest or wood and enjoy nature’s vibrant colors. Take some pretty pictures.
4 – Sort out your wardrobe to music!
5 – Go to the library or a bookshop and pick up a few autumn-themed books (Halloween, rainy countries…).
6 – Start a gratitude journal (every evening and/or morning, write down 3 things for which you feel grateful). Buy an autumn-colored notebook.
7 – Start thinking about your Halloween costume.
8 – Plan a crazy Halloween party!
9 – Have a cocooning evening: bring out the candles, run a bubble bath, do a hair mask, put on some soft music and read a good book.
10 – Return to the cinema and make it a weekly habit.
11 – Find a new series to devour.
12 – Repaint a room in your home.
13 – Change the sofa pillows for autumn colors.
14 – Buy a few bewitchingly scented candles and light them at the slightest opportunity.
15 – Treat yourself to one of my happiness courses for a joyful autumn (laughs).
3 – Don’t wait to take care of yourself in autumn
The problem is that we tend to wait until we have time to take care of ourselves. Even though we urgently need to take care of ourselves.
In fact, our time escapes us, because we use it to do only “compulsory”, “serious” and even stressful things!
But your time belongs to you. And it’s up to you to decide how to use it.
That’s why I wholeheartedly invite you to schedule at least two times each week during the autumn months to take care of yourself.
This could be two 30-minute periods or even longer.
Start small at first. Then, have fun increasing as you go along.
For example, make a note in your diary for next week: 1 session of “cake baking” and 1 session of “autumn reading”.
Yes, have fun planning little moments to celebrate autumn.
