Letting Go In Love: 3 Ideas For A Healthy Relationship

When our love relationship is full of conflicts and fears, then it’s time to learn to let go in love. But where do we start, and how do we go about it? Here are 3 powerful ideas to help you learn to trust and improve your relationship.
1 – Work on your expectations and accept your partner’s imperfections
We have a lot of expectations of others, especially our partner.
Why do we do this? Because a loving relationship can make us happy, but it can also make us very unhappy. Most of us have already experienced this. And, consciously or unconsciously, we no longer want to feel the pain of separation.
So we protect ourselves with expectations. Without realizing that our expectations, far from protecting us, actually spoil the relationship.
In fact, we don’t realize that, in order to protect ourselves, we make our own little bargain. Our partner has to be like this and not like that. He must do this and not that.
And what happens in reality? We don’t find that perfect partner.
So we grumble, complain and create all kinds of conflicts in the relationship.
What if it was time to let go in love? What if it was time to accept our partner’s imperfections?
If you’re tired of fighting in your relationship, of trying to change your partner at all costs, of seeing only the other person’s faults, maybe it’s time for you to change the way you think and act.
Instead of waiting for the other person to change and become perfect, why not love them as they are?
Because that’s what letting go in love is all about: accepting the other person’s imperfections.
2 – Learning to come back to the present moment to let go in love
In a loving relationship, sometimes the fear of the future – in other words, of breaking up – is so strong that it ruins everything.
In fact, we’re so afraid of the other person leaving us that, without realizing it, we make it happen.
So how do we get out of it? To do so, we need to learn to let go in love by learning to come back to the present moment.
It’s normal to be afraid of breaking up. It’s only human. The problem is when this fear takes over and prevents us from living in the present moment and therefore from experiencing a healthy relationship with the other person.
So, if this sounds like you, I invite you to work on anchoring yourself in the present moment. Meditation in particular can help.
Because, when the fear of the other person leaving us in the future is too present, it’s because we’re letting our thoughts wander to the future.
And meditation can help you learn to hold your thoughts in the present moment.
You can also practice mindfulness. That is, instead of imagining your future break-up while drinking your coffee in the morning, you can drink your coffee in the morning thinking only of that cup of coffee you’re holding in your hands, the taste of coffee in your mouth and concentrating on your steady breath.
Can you see how this might help you? Then put it into practice.
3 – Learning to trust in order to let go in love
You may be suffering from a fear of abandonment that drives you to want to spend as much time with the other person as possible. The problem is that this can stifle the relationship and put it at risk.
So, if this sounds like you, it’s time to learn to let go in love by learning to trust.
For a loving relationship to flourish in a healthy and lasting way, each person needs their own personal space. A space in which each person can listen to and satisfy his or her own needs, and cultivate his or her own interests. It’s necessary, it’s vital.
And, to achieve this, each partner needs to work on the trust they place in the other.
How can we do this? First and foremost, you have to work on yourself and your fear of abandonment. This work can be undertaken with a professional, such as a shrink or a coach.
What’s more, it means taking a little more interest in yourself and a little less in the other person. In other words, a little more interest in your own emotions, needs and passions.
Indeed, in a loving relationship, we tend to look only at the other person, to think only of him or her, and so we’d like the other person to do the same with us.
The problem is that this isn’t healthy at all. Because, in this life, everyone has to look after themselves, their happiness and their well-being.
So, take care of yourself a little more, it’ll make you happier and help you let go of love.
