How do you wake up in the morning? We all dream of waking up feeling good and in a good mood. We imagine we’ll have the time to get everything done without stress. However, you only have to look at our faces on public transport in the morning to realize that… we’re more likely to go to work not really in shape! So here are 17 tips to get your day off to a good start.
1 – Wake up early in the morning: go to bed 8 hours before your alarm goes off.
Waking up early in the morning means getting up earlier than usual, but not sleeping less.
In fact, both the quantity and quality of sleep count. That’s why we make sure we don’t go to bed stressed out at the idea of getting ONLY 5 hours of sleep, because we’ve been hanging out in front of the TV…
So we can set an alarm clock to remind us to go to bed on time.
2 – A thought at bedtime
We go to bed well in advance to get our 8 hours of sleep. We feel good.
Now we need to “motivate” ourselves to get up in the morning. That’s why reading an inspiring thought about tomorrow can help!
“I close this day with gratitude. Thank you! Now I’m going to sleep peacefully and wake up tomorrow morning full of energy and enthusiasm.”
3 – Waking up well in the morning: practicing getting up when the bell rings
How do you wake up in the morning? By practicing!
At bedtime, lie down and set the alarm. When it rings, get up and head for the bathroom, for example. Do this 3 times in a row for 1 week.
This allows your brain to associate the sound of the alarm with getting up and heading for the bathroom. It will become automatic.
4 – Tidy up the living room and kitchen
Before we go to bed, let’s make sure our living room and kitchen are clean and tidy. We’ll be much more inclined to get up in a place where we feel good!
Tidying up has many benefits in our lives, not least of which is to make us happier.
5 – Prepare your belongings for the next day
Another way to make us want to get up is to prepare the things we’re going to do the next morning: the glass of water, the sports mat, the book, breakfast, our outfit, our bag…
6 – Waking up well in the morning: setting yourself a goal for the next morning
The mind abhors a vacuum. Indeed, if we don’t know what we’re going to do in the morning as soon as we get out of bed, we can be sure that our brain will prevent us from getting up.
That’s why we need to know what we’re going to do first:
go to the bathroom
eat
stretch…
7 – Reading before bed
How do you wake up in the morning? By reading before going to sleep.

All it takes is 6 minutes of reading to reduce stress by 68%. Just 6 minutes!
In other words, if you can read 15 minutes before going to sleep, you’ll sleep more peacefully.
8 – Waking up well in the morning: cultivating gratitude
Another exercise to help us overcome stress before going to sleep is to keep a gratitude journal.
The principle: write down the 3 things you’re happy or proud of that happened during the day.
9 – Plan the next day
Yet another way to beat stress and get quality sleep: plan the day ahead.
The brain is stubborn when it thinks of something, it doesn’t stop. So, if we thought before going to bed: “Oh, I’ll have to think about buying some apples tomorrow”, we’d better write it down somewhere, otherwise it’ll go round and round.
Writing down the things we have to do clears our brains, for our own good.
10 – Never press the “repeat” button
How do you wake up in the morning? By NEVER pressing the “repeat” button.
This ties in with tip #3. The brain can learn “good” habits, but it can also learn “bad” ones.
When you press the “snooze” button on your alarm clock and go back to sleep, 1, 2, 3, 4 times… the brain registers: alarm clock = go back to sleep.
An annoying vicious circle…
11 – Repeating a positive thought to motivate yourself in the morning
How do you wake up in the morning? A motivating thought can help.
Here’s my favorite:
Hop. We smile, we thank life for seeing a new day dawn and we get out of bed with a conquering air while congratulating ourselves: “Well done!
, another morning that belongs to me!”
We can also imagine ourselves with Rocky Balboa’s “Eye of a tiger” in our ears. (laughs)
12 – Waking up in the morning: automatic first steps
To get out of bed easily, it’s important to set up “ritual” gestures. Making choices strains our willpower. In other words, we don’t give ourselves the choice to do anything, and do the same thing over and over again. To do this, we need to make up our minds.
To the toilet
Wash your hands
Fresh water on the face to wake up
Hydrate with a glass at room temperature
Open the windows for a dose of fresh air
13 – Fill up on exercise to get into shape in the morning
The whole point of getting up in the morning is to be able to do things that are important to us! Actions, exercises that help us feel better, advance our goals, feed our passions… whatever we want, really. The only rule is that it’s for us and us alone!
We don’t check our e-mails, we don’t get ahead with the laundry, we don’t make other people’s breakfasts… A little bit of “me” goes a long way.

Stretch, jump up and down…
Take a cool shower
Smile in front of the mirror
Listen to upbeat music
Meditate to calm down
Give thanks to life to feel happier

14 – Breakfast
How do we wake up in the morning? By giving our bodies fuel. Good fuel!
We can, for example, eat fruit, almonds, wholegrain cereals, yoghurt…
15 – Waking up well in the morning: preparing positively for the day ahead
The morning is also the best time to get motivated for the whole day. So it’s a good time to go back to your diary and review what you’ll be doing all day!
We readjust our goals if necessary, and above all, we boost our self-confidence with a beautiful thought:
“I believe this day will be wonderful. I believe I can cope with any problems that arise today. It’s fantastic to be alive.
16 – Leaving a little early for work

So we get organized and leave 15 minutes earlier than usual. This habit can transform your professional life!
You’ll arrive at work less stressed, so you’ll be smiling and feeling more positive.
17 – Plan a 10-minute afternoon nap
