How To Change Your Life: 6 Powerful Exercises

Looking for change? Do you want to change things to live a more exciting, motivating life? It’s normal to want to change things in your life. But most of the time, it scares us. We don’t know where to start or how to go about it. So how can you change your life with confidence and serenity? Here are 6 practical exercises.
1 – Taking stock to change your life
Sometimes it’s as if you’re fed up with everything, you want to leave everything behind and change your life.
The problem is that everything we run away from runs away with us. In other words, when we want to change our life, it’s not to run away from what we don’t like, but to go towards what we do like.
But how can we know what we love when all we want to do is leave everything behind, change everything?
For this, I wholeheartedly invite you to take stock, take a week if necessary.
So, sit down in a quiet place that you particularly like and answer this question:
What do I like and dislike in my life?
Make two columns on a sheet of paper and take 5 minutes to write down everything that comes to mind.
Do this for 7 days. Then, at the end of the 7 days, read it again. Pay particular attention to the “I like” column.
Then ask yourself: “How can I do more of the things I love? How can I experience more of the moments I love in my life?”
In this way, you’ll be able to change your life in a positive direction. The changes will then be healthier and more lasting!
2 – Make your bucket list
This is an exercise I particularly enjoy, because it’s full of joie de vivre.
A bucket list is a list of 100 things you’d like to do before you die.
It’s an exercise that can be done over several days, because you’ll see that it’s easy to list the first 15 things, but after that it gets a bit tricky (laughs).
It’s a joyful exercise. In other words, don’t put pressure on yourself.
It’s 100 things, big and small, that we’d like to do.
Have fun writing this list in a pretty notebook.
To help you make this list, here are some questions to ask yourself:
What if I only had a year to live? Only 6 months?
What if I asked the 6-year-old me for advice? To the 15-year-old I was?
In fact, this bucket-list is really essential for changing your life, because it shows you the dreams that are deep inside you.
Because why change your life if you’re not going to make your dreams come true?
All too often, I see people make career changes, not to realize their dreams, but to do a job that’s good for them. It’s not about dreams, joy or happiness, but about security.
Remember, if you want to change your life to make it happier and more exciting, aim for your dreams! Aim for positivity and joy!
3 – Dream your ideal life to change your life
This is an exercise I repeat regularly. It’s normal to want to change your life. Yes, it’s normal to want our lives to evolve and sometimes even take a different direction.
Because life is a school, we’re here to experiment.
And yet, changing our life is quite negative in our minds. Indeed, we tell ourselves that if we want to change our life, we must have something to escape from.
But to change your life is to move towards something else, with joy and good humor.
That’s why I wholeheartedly invite you to do this exercise: dream your ideal life.
This exercise can also be done over several days.
On the first day, sit down in a quiet place you particularly like and ask yourself: if I lived in an ideal world, what job would I do? Explore all the possibilities. Dive into your dream jobs. What would you do? Who would you do it with? With whom? How would you feel?
Then, on the second day, ask yourself: what if I lived in an ideal world, what kind of love life would I have? Again, explore all the possibilities you can think of.
And so on, ask yourself these questions: What kind of social life would I have? What would my passions be? What would my routine be? What would my Monday look like?
Imagine every aspect of your ideal life. Have some fun. Explore different lives and see which one resonates most with you right now.
I say “right now”, because it’s normal to want to change your life regularly, to want to change things. Because we change, we grow, we evolve, so our life must also evolve and change with us.
This isn’t negative, quite the contrary. It’s very positive. It’s vital!
4 – Read personal development books
When you want to change your life, books can be a great help. In fact, personal development books can help motivate us, or on the contrary, soothe us.
In fact, in books, we meet authors who share their testimonies with us.
In other words, books help us feel less alone at this uncomfortable time in our lives.
Because yes, changing your life is scary. And it’s normal, because every change is new.
That’s why I wholeheartedly invite you to read personal development books and feel-good novels. That way, you’ll feel less alone, and you’ll get some good advice too.
Personally, I’ve learned to be happy and changed my life by reading hundreds of personal development books. They’ve been my guides.
To this day, I still read books about happiness, because it makes me feel so much better.
To motivate yourself to read, you can set yourself the goal of reading at least one personal development book a month.
5 – Find inspirational role models to change your life
When we want to change our lives, we sometimes panic. In fact, we tend to reject everything about our lives and even ourselves. We’d like to be less, we’d like to be more, and it hurts.
Because, to change our lives, we need confidence and serenity. Indeed, we need to have confidence in ourselves and in life, and we need to calm down to make the changes that really inspire us.
In other words, I invite you to put love, trust and peace back into yourself.
To do this, I recommend finding inspirational role models.
Who inspires you to love yourself? Self-confidence and serenity?
Look for role models to inspire you.
In fact, when you’re feeling lost, you can imagine what your role model would do if he or she were in your shoes.
It’s an exercise, a game even, that lets you get back to your best self, and it’s ideal when you want to change your life! Give it a try!
6 – Have a goal
Changing your life is a lot of pressure. We have so much to do, in so many different areas. And, it really does seem insurmountable.
So how do you go about changing your life?
Start somewhere. Start small.
5 words that changed everything for me, I hope they’ll change everything for you too.
When you want to change your life, you want to do it all at once and, above all, you want it to happen right away. But changing your life is a process that can take some time.
That’s why, focus on this phrase: “Start somewhere. Start small.”
Because it’s not so much arriving at your destination that counts, it’s having the feeling of moving forward, of making progress.
In fact, it’s action that makes you happy. So take action.
To do this, I wholeheartedly invite you to always have a goal. No matter how small.
