I Don’T Have Any Dreams: 8 Tips For Discovering Your Dreams

Many of us find ourselves without dreams. We no longer know what makes our heart beat, because we’ve forgotten to listen to ourselves, and we don’t know what to do about it. That’s why I’ve come up with 8 tips to help you discover your dreams and stop saying “I don’t have any dreams”.
1 – As a child, what did I like to do?
First of all, not having dreams is normal. In fact, we weren’t taught to dream, to really dream. In fact, at school, we were taught to fall into line, find a serious job and lead a serious life.
That’s why the question of our dreams can take a lot of time and thought. It’s only natural.
To help you in this process, you can go back to your childhood: what did you like to do? What did you play at?
What’s more, take a moment to go back to your childhood. Think back to all those things and activities that made you dream? What did you admire? What made you laugh?
As children, we knew how to listen to our hearts. That’s why going back to it can help us discover our dreams.
2 – What would I do on a day when I had nothing to do?
We’re constantly busy. Yes, we fill our time with mountains of things to do and far too much noise.
Why don’t we stop for a moment?
Because it’s in emptiness and silence that we really discover ourselves.
What do I love? What makes me smile and gives me joy?
Or what do I feel like doing when I’ve got nothing to do?
What don’t I allow myself to do because I don’t think it’s useful, or because I’m afraid of being laughed at?
We often say: “I don’t have any dreams”, because on a day-to-day basis, we don’t allow ourselves to do the things we really enjoy. We drown ourselves in “useful” things to do, without ever leaving ourselves time to enjoy ourselves.
That’s why we take time for ourselves, to ask questions and do the things we really enjoy.
3 – What would I do in an ideal world?
A question that can make you dizzy.
What would I do in a world where I had the right to be who I wanted to be and do what I wanted to do?
But that’s the real question.
We don’t always notice it, but over time, we’ve become boxed in and never out.
These boxes, these roles we play, are far too narrow for who we really are.
If you think you don’t have any dreams, it’s time to ask yourself this question: “What would I do in an ideal world?” and answer it from the heart.
4 – Challenge myself when “I don’t have any dreams
Sometimes we don’t have dreams, because nothing really interests us. We like doing certain things, but nothing really makes our heart beat faster.
It’s not always because we don’t have the time, but because we don’t have the ideas, or even the motivation.
That’s why I invite you to challenge yourself. They’ll help you gradually discover the things you like and don’t like. Your dreams will be born of this discovery.
For example, every month or every three months, you can discover a new course: cooking, sports, sewing, meditation, reading, crafts…
Yes, we’re in a hurry to discover our dreams, but everything takes time, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot.
Learn to discover what makes your heart beat. Give yourself all the time you need.
What’s more, discovering yourself will be a wonderful adventure. Savour every moment.
5 – Start somewhere when “I have no dreams”.
Often, we wait until we know everything, until we’ve planned everything, before getting started. But what if we launched ourselves without knowing or planning anything?
What if we took the plunge and let life be our guide?
Is there anything that drives you more than others at the moment?
Then start there.
You know, you don’t have to do everything perfectly. You’re allowed to start somewhere and go from there.
6 – Give yourself the right to try when ‘I don’t have dreams’.
Yes, we have the right to try. Something we weren’t taught at all. In fact, today we live with the belief that when you start something, you have to finish it!
Well, that’s not true.
We have the right to try and change our minds.
We have the right to like something and then not like it.
That’s why, when you don’t have any dreams, don’t be afraid to try something. If, in time, you discover that your heart beats for something else, go for it.
7 – Give yourself the right to learn
We often forget that having dreams and making them come true requires learning. A lot of learning.
And we’re going to make a lot of mistakes too.
Unfortunately, in our society, everything has to go fast, everything has to be perfect. So let go of those beliefs right now.
Having dreams, having talents even, doesn’t mean you’ll be the best and that everything will be easy. Quite the contrary, in fact.
Listening to your heart is going to require you to learn a lot.
8 – Death as an advisor
When you keep telling yourself that “I don’t have any dreams”, it’s time to ask the best guide of all: death.
Yes, we’re going to die. The prospect scares us, so we pretend it doesn’t exist. That’s why we tend to live as if we were immortal.
Yes, we waste a lot of our time doing things we don’t like to do.
Because if we really lived with the reality that we’re going to die one day, we wouldn’t want to waste a single moment doing things that don’t make our hearts beat with joy and love, would we?
So right now, realize how precious your life is, and that you’re alive not to do things the right way, but to do the things that make you happy.
Your dreams are all the things that make your heart beat faster.
If you follow your heart, if little by little you do things with love and joy, you’ll soon realize: “I’m living my dreams, that’s it.”
Let yourself be guided. Give time to time. Move forward with joy and love. And your dreams will become your life.
