Improve Your Life: 6 Steps To Create The Life You Want

Improving your life is a natural need. In fact, it’s normal to want to go further and discover new things. In fact, we have dreams to realize, goals to reach, a life to build day by day. But how do we go about it? I’m sharing with you 6 steps you can take to create the life you want.
1 – Taking stock before improving your life
To improve your life, it’s essential to take stock first. To do this, ask yourself these questions: What do I like about my current life, and what don’t I like?
What do I want to keep and what don’t I want to keep?
In fact, take an honest look at your current life. Don’t judge, be benevolent.
And be positive. Realize that there is already good and beautiful in your life.
Because you don’t have to leave everything, to change everything. In fact, you can improve things, to move towards something happier, more joyful.
In fact, it’s essential to understand that we build the life we want on the positive, not the negative.
That’s why go for your joy. Build it. Don’t run away, because everything you run away from, follows you.
2 – Make your bucket list, your dream list
To improve your life, dreams are essential. After all, we’re here because we have dreams to realize.
In fact, all too often, when we’re about to make changes in our lives, we’re afraid of making the wrong choices, afraid of regretting them.
That’s why, to be sure you’re making the right choice, follow one of your dreams.
Indeed, if the change you’re about to make in your life is originally a dream, then you’re making the right decision, the one inspired by your heart.
So, I wholeheartedly invite you right now to make your bucket list, otherwise known as your dream list.
Close your eyes, smile and list right now, without thinking, the 10 things you’d like to do before you die.
Let joy be your guide. Dream like a child. Dream about anything. In fact, don’t think about how you’re going to make this dream come true, or even why you’re dreaming it, just write down what makes your heart beat with joy.
3 – Turn your dreams into goals to improve your life
Improving your life means setting goals and achieving them! Without goals, we can’t move forward in our lives.
That’s why, of the 10 things you’ve just written, choose 3.
Again, don’t think. Just choose the 3 you like best right now.
You’ll do the others later. And if one of the 3 doesn’t appeal to you in a while, pick another one. It’s as simple as that.
Yes, because being happy is simple!
In fact, happiness is an action verb. In other words, if you do something because you believe it will make you happy, then you will be happy.
Never mind the unpleasant surprises. Happiness depends on you, on what you do, on what you believe and think, not on what happens to you or doesn’t happen to you.
So, it’s time to take action, to set yourself goals that make you happy, dreams that make you want to, and to take action day after day to achieve them, with joy and good humour.
4 – Boost your self-confidence to create a life you love
Now that you’ve chosen your 3 dreams, your 3 goals, you’re bound to hear doubts welling up inside you: “You can’t do it and you don’t have the right to dream like that.”
And these doubts will make you think you lack self-confidence.
But that’s not true at all. In fact, you’re afraid, and that’s quite different!
In other words, you simply need to boost your self-confidence to dare to overcome your fears.
And to do that, here are two phrases to repeat to yourself:
“Being afraid is normal. Lacking self-confidence is normal. I’m able to overcome my fears one by one, and my lack of self-confidence, because I know I’ll learn what I need to realize my dreams, to reach my goals, step by step”.
“I want to make my dreams come true. I don’t have to prove anything, I don’t have to justify myself. If I feel like it, that’s enough.”
And finally, you can repeat to yourself, “I deserve the best and I’m capable of anything just like anyone else on Earth.”
5 – Start small, start somewhere
So, your dreams are scaring you, you’re wondering how you’re going to run that marathon, change career paths, learn Japanese… and so many other things besides.
It’s only natural!
The problem is, when we want to improve our lives, we often want to go too fast. In fact, we ask too much of ourselves all at once, and end up giving up because it’s too much effort.
That’s why I wholeheartedly invite you to start small and start somewhere.
In concrete terms, this means writing down a step-by-step action plan.
Let’s take the dream of running a marathon. You can start by running 1 kilometer, then 2, then 3… Start by running once a week, then twice, then 3…
Let’s take the dream of changing career paths. You can start by finding out about the future career you’d like, by calculating the budget you’ll need, by joining a group that brings together people who are changing career paths…
Finally, let’s take the dream of learning Japanese. You can start by learning one word a day, then two, then 3. You can also find out about courses with a teacher, calculate the budget you need and start organizing your lessons.
In fact, the more little things you do, the less scared you’ll be, and the less scared you’ll be, the better you’ll get.
Because there’s no point in going too fast. In fact, you run the risk of burning out and giving up.
In fact, to improve your life, you mustn’t try to reach the top of the mountain as quickly as possible, you must allow yourself to move forward slowly, but surely and with joy and good humour.
Because it’s not your future happiness that counts most, it’s your present happiness, the happiness you feel while you’re doing the little things that move you forward.
6 – Never stop improving your life
Improving your life is a journey. It never stops, because you’ll always have things to improve, and besides, that won’t protect you from life’s problems and unpleasant surprises.
What’s more, your dreams and goals will make you face up to your fears.
So breathe.
Never stop following your joy. Don’t let your problems, unpleasant surprises, stress and doubts take over your life.
In fact, your happiness needs you to think positive thoughts and do things that make you smile.
So never stop.
If it’s too hard, slow down. Take even smaller steps. Rest. But don’t stop.
