What To Do With Your Life: 10 Powerful Goals For Moving Forward

We don’t always know what to do with our lives? And there’s nothing worse than going through our days with the feeling of accomplishing nothing and feeling nothing. So, how can we make sure we know where we’re going, so that when we go to bed at night, we can say to ourselves: I’ve made progress today! But how? Here are 10 powerful goals to help you regain your motivation and self-confidence. You’ll love them!
1 – What to do with your life: plan one enjoyable activity a day
When you don’t know what to do with your life, having a schedule that balances obligations and pleasures is a great goal.
In fact, if we’re not careful, our lives go at 1000 miles an hour and are made up of nothing but negative things.
In fact, we spend a lot of time planning for unforeseen events and chores.
What if we took a little time to plan things that nourish us and make us smile?
That’s why, as a first step, make a list of all the things you can do in 5-10 minutes that bring you joy:
listening to music, watching a funny video on the Internet, walking in a park near your home, eating the best baguette in town, drinking a coffee on the terrace, calling a friend, lighting an incense stick, reading a book…
Then, your goal is to plan one of these pleasures once a day. So, to your diary!
2 – Playing sports
What can you do with your life? Play sports! That’s hardly surprising, is it?
Indeed, sport is life. No, I’m not exaggerating. Sport is good for the body, but it’s also good for the mind.
In fact, the more we exercise, the stronger we become, both physically and mentally!
So why deprive ourselves? Ah yes, lack of time…
But sport doesn’t have to mean going to the gym for 2 hours every day.
So, if you have this strong belief that you don’t have enough time to exercise, I invite you to start small:
Jump rope for 5-10 minutes in the morning or evening
Go for a 10-15 minute run down the street
Practice a few yoga postures for 10-15 minutes in your living room
Walk as fast as you can for 30 minutes every day
Take a fitness class on YouTube twice a week
Of course sport takes time, but you’re the master of your own time. Use it for things that have a positive impact on your life.
To do this, give up some of the things that spoil it for you (too much TV, too many magazines, too many conversations that revolve around the latest gossip) and do sport instead.
3 – What to do with your life: watch documentaries
When you don’t know what to do with your life, setting yourself the goal of learning is great.
Because sometimes we tend to forget how important it is to learn, first and foremost to keep our brains healthy, but also simply for the pleasure of being amazed.
Learning is like sport: it takes time, but not that much.
The aim is to do a little, but often.
That’s why, as a first step, make a list of all the things you’d like to learn, things that interest you, things that challenge you, things that would be useful at work, at home or in your relationships.
Then, choose one of these things and list all the media that could help you find out more: reference books, websites, videos, documentaries.
And, finally, set yourself the goal of using one of these materials for 10 minutes a day. No more, no less.
4 – Send kind messages
Because love is cultivated and nurtured every day.
When I talk about love, I’m talking about our partner, but also our family and friends.
That’s why, to nurture this love which is essential to our happiness, I invite you to set yourself the goal of sending one message a day to someone you’re close to, just to wish him or her a good day, check up on them or simply to let them know you’re thinking of them.
You’ll see that this goal will completely change your relationship.
5 – What to do with your life: wait 7 days before buying
Because learning to live with a positive bank account when you don’t know what to do with your life is a great goal.
After all, a bank account in the red is a huge source of stress.
That’s why, to avoid this, I invite you to set yourself a goal: to impose a deadline on yourself before any purchase, other than food.
In other words, when you have a craving, wait! 7 days is good. First of all, it’ll give you time to ask yourself a few questions:
Do I need it? What do I need it for?
Where will I store it?
How often will I use it?
And above all, can I really afford it?
6 – Eliminate a fatty food
Because healthy eating is important. Unfortunately, most of us are so used to eating fatty and sugary foods that it’s not easy.
So, as always, I invite you to take things slowly, but surely.
How about making a commitment not to eat a fatty food for a month? I’ve started with nutella, what will you start with?
7 – What to do with your life: do one thing at a time
What to do with your life? Live serenely!
Yes, living serenely means learning to concentrate on what we’re doing.
Unfortunately, these days, we’re often told that we need to multitask. But this is a nightmare, not a quality to be cultivated!
In other words, let’s respect our body and our rhythm by doing just one thing at a time.
This can start quite simply on the sofa: when you’re watching something on TV, your cell phone stays off, and vice-versa.
Are you up to the challenge?
8 – Take at least one photo of our outings
What to do with your life? Make memories and keep them!
When our spirits are low, it’s good to look at photos of our best memories, because it puts a smile on our face.
So I suggest you make a commitment to take at least one photo of your next family get-together, with friends, with family, with colleagues… You’ll see, it’ll change everything.
9 – What to do with your life: tidy up your living room and kitchen before bedtime
We don’t always realize it, but our interior has a strong impact on the person we are, our mood and our level of motivation.
That’s why I invite you to tidy up your kitchen and living room every night before going to bed. That way, in the morning, you’ll be able to wake up to an interior that’s a pleasure to live in, and you won’t be stressed by the dishes that still have to be done.
10 – Disconnect from time to time
What can you do with your life? Learn to enjoy it to the full.
Today, we’re lucky enough to know about telephones and the Internet. They help us in so many ways, not least in learning new things and staying connected to the people we love.
But what about us? How can we stay connected to ourselves if we’re always looking to others or the internet?
Yes, we need to find ourselves from time to time, to look only with our eyes, to walk simply for the pleasure of walking, to hear only our little voice in our head and to breathe calmly.
I know that we’re not used to doing this at all, that it may even seem strange. But it’s extraordinary.
That’s why I’m inviting you to try this out for 30 days, starting with one or two hours once a week, and eventually building up to half a day a week.
How do I set a goal?
Start with a goal, either the one you like best of the 10 I’ve just listed, or the one that seems easiest.
These goals will surely give you other ideas for goals, so don’t hesitate to choose some of your own.
So, I suggest you choose just one goal and commit to it for the next 30 days. And, after those 30 days, I invite you to take stock:
What did it get me?
Do I want to continue?
Can I go further? And how?
