What can we do to live a happier life? In fact, more often than not, we feel helpless when it comes to taking our happiness into our own hands. What can we do? Where do we start? That’s why, in this article, I’d like to offer you the complete guide to being happy in life. In other words, here are the 7 steps to happiness.
1 – Make the decision to be happy
Above all, a happier life begins with a decision. Personally, it all started when I got fed up with not being happy. In fact, I didn’t want to live another year of unhappiness. So I decided to roll up my sleeves and take my happiness into my own hands.
That’s why I’m convinced that the first step to happiness is to make a decision. The decision to be happy, from now on! Will you make it?
2 – Start seeing and focusing on the positive for a happier life
So making the decision to be happy isn’t magic. In fact, all of a sudden, your life won’t become perfectly happy. In fact, to live a happier life, you need to learn to see and focus on the positive.
What’s the point? Because happiness isn’t a life without problems, without negative things. In fact, happiness is a life in which we stop focusing on the negative, stop dramatizing and lamenting.
Because yes, if we’re honest, we can admit that we tend to lament the slightest negative thing in our lives. In fact, we do this because we mistakenly believe that when something negative happens to us, then we can’t be happy. But that’s just not true!
In fact, we can be happy despite the negative, and it starts with the willingness to see and focus on the positive. Will you do it?
3 – Reweaving your social circle for a happier life
If we’re not living a happy life, it’s because over time we’ve begun to take an extremely negative, even hostile view of others. In fact, we’ve come to believe that others are troublesome, toxic people to be avoided at all costs. Some of the people around you probably are, but most of them aren’t.
That’s why the third step to a happier life is to reconnect with the people around you, to re-establish healthy, positive relationships. To do this, pick up the phone and call the people you love. Check in with them, let them know how you’re doing. Organize a little outing, a little meal. Take the first step! Will you?
4 – Back to sport to be happier
So, getting back into sport isn’t about practising a physical activity several times a week for hours on end, nor is it about setting ourselves the goal of sculpting a perfect body. Not at all.
Returning to sport is simply about getting our bodies moving, so that we can rediscover pleasant physical sensations. Because happiness also begins with the body. In a body that moves, that secretes hormones of happiness and well-being.
So, will you start exercising again? You could start by walking a little more, or sign up for a weekly yoga class, for example. What do you think?
5 – Personal development training for a happier life
Personal development has changed everything in my life. In fact, I learned how to be happy thanks to personal development. In fact, I’ve learned to have greater self-confidence, greater motivation, better management of my time and my emotions. I also asked myself about the meaning of my life, my personality, my strengths, my projects and my dreams.
And, for me, happiness is all this work we do on ourselves. Not to perfect yourself, but to get to know yourself. And I think that’s essential for a happier life.

6 – Challenge yourself and take control of your happiness
So, a happier life is also one in which we adopt better habits in life, habits that make us feel good and that also help us move forward. Because, to be happy, it’s essential to have the feeling of moving forward, of progressing in your life.
To achieve this, it’s a good idea to learn how to challenge ourselves. In other words, set yourself small goals to move forward slowly but surely in life. In fact, I wholeheartedly invite you to set yourself 30-day challenges, because they’re effective and a lot of fun.
So, find the little things you want to improve in your life: like getting back into sports, drinking less coffee, cutting down on cigarettes, spending less… and set yourself a 30-day challenge to move in that direction. It works, and it’s fun too. So, will you take the plunge?
7 – Cultivate your interests for a happier life
Happiness doesn’t just happen; you have to do things to feel happy in life. That’s why it’s essential to start by cultivating your interests.
Here, the trap to avoid is not to try at all costs to use your interests to earn money or achieve success. In fact, an interest has only one purpose: to bring you joy in life. Nothing more, nothing less. So, of course it’s possible to turn your passions into exciting work. But that’s not the primary mission of a passion.
So, just aim for your joy first, that’s the most important thing. And, it’s one of the most powerful recipes for living a happier life.
