Low morale? Our morale often goes through ups and downs, and that’s normal. Unfortunately, we don’t always know what to do when we’re down. How can we feel better? How can we put a smile back on our faces? Here are 7 comforting tips.
1 – Stop watching the news and social networks all the time
How many times have you watched the news, how many times have you been on social networks in the last two days?
In fact, we often don’t realize how much negative content we’re consuming.
Because, yes, on news channels or newspapers, most of the information is negative, even anxiety-provoking. It’s all about what’s going wrong.
Social networks are different. In fact, it’s not the content that’s negative, but rather our tendency to compare ourselves with others that ends up depressing us.
That’s why it’s time for you to reduce the amount of time you spend accessing information and social networks.
And if you’re feeling down in the dumps, I wholeheartedly invite you to turn everything off for the next 48 hours.
Give yourself this gift. Because as soon as your attention stops being focused on the outside, the outside that’s making you feel bad, you’ll be able to refocus on yourself and take care of yourself.
After all, haven’t you noticed that we spend a lot of time looking at what other people are doing and thinking, without giving a thought to what we ourselves are thinking and doing?
Your happiness needs you. Not others.
2 – When morale is low: get off the couch
When morale is low, we often tend to get depressed on the sofa.
We don’t feel like doing anything. Nothing gives us pleasure or makes us smile.
Unfortunately, we’ve fallen into a vicious circle and don’t realize it.
Because the less you do, the worse you feel.
In fact, to feel good and happy, it’s essential to do things. Things that make you smile.
Yet when we don’t feel well, we tend to do nothing but brood.
So what can we do to regain the desire to do things?
I invite you to start with just 5 minutes.
In fact, we often don’t do things, even the things that give us pleasure, because just thinking about them makes us tired.
Take sport, for example. At the time, the idea of exercising appeals to us, but we say to ourselves: exercising for 30 minutes is too long.
Why not start with 5 minutes?
Why not read for 5 minutes? Write, dance, sing?
You know, if you’re feeling down right now, it’s because you need to do more of the things you love. So get up! Because if you don’t change anything, nothing will.
Try it for 5 minutes and see what happens. Don’t put pressure on yourself.
3 – When morale is low: take care of your appearance
When we’re feeling down, we tend to let ourselves go a bit. Out of laziness or sometimes, we say to ourselves: what’s the point?
Once again, a vicious circle is set in motion: the more we neglect our hygiene and appearance, the less reason we have to feel good.
In fact, our hygiene and appearance have an impact on our sense of well-being.
That’s why, when you’re feeling down in the dumps, make a point of using perfume and dressing with care.
It’s a real morale booster!

4 – Surround yourself well
Many of us shut ourselves away when things aren’t going well. So we stop answering calls and messages.
We shut ourselves away in our silence.
Here again, we trap ourselves in a vicious circle: the less contact we have with the people we love, the more we feel unwell.
We need to think about something else, to talk about something else.
In other words, I wholeheartedly invite you to pick up the phone and send a message or call someone you love to talk about something else, about them, about the latest positive news…
Yes, don’t talk about your low morale; on the contrary, distract them. The more you talk about it, the more your depression clings to you.
It’s not a question of pretending that everything’s fine. Just say: “Yes, I’m feeling a bit down at the moment, but it’ll pass. Come on, let’s talk about things that make you smile!”
5 – When morale is low: stop overreacting
When our spirits are low, we sometimes tend to dramatize. In practice, this can turn a slight dip in morale into depression.
And we scare ourselves. We go from being sad, morose and grumpy to being depressed.
That’s why I urge you to be vigilant and not overdramatize.
Low spirits happen to everyone, every day. It’s only natural.
In fact, like everything else in life, our morale goes through ups and downs. Nothing stays up forever, just as nothing stays down forever.
It goes up and down. On and on.
So breathe! Don’t overreact.
Look at your low morale with kindness. You have every right to be sad. But don’t worry, it’ll pass.
In other words, I invite you to repeat to yourself: “I’m down, I accept it. I’ll take care of myself. It will pass.”
6 – Don’t victimize yourself
Sometimes we don’t know how to deal with our low morale. In fact, we don’t understand why it’s happening to us, so we go looking for someone to blame.
That’s why we’re going to make a list of all the people and things that prevent us from being happy.
And that’s when we start to victimize ourselves, and victimization is incompatible with happiness.
So, what can we do about it?
Stop looking for reasons for our low morale.
And, by deciding to take care of ourselves, to do more of the things we love, by turning off the news and social networks, by getting closer to positive people to talk about positive things…
You can also practice gratitude. In fact, rather than listing all the reasons you don’t feel happy right now, you can list all the reasons you do.

7 – Stop doubting
When our morale is low, our outlook on life becomes more negative, more gloomy.
That’s why it’s not the time to think, but rather to act and do the things we love.
In fact, it’s essential to distract ourselves from thoughts that make us doubt everything, even life itself.
Because it’s normal when our spirits are low to believe that life isn’t worth living.
But understand that it’s not when you don’t feel well that you have to ask yourself existential questions about life.
On the contrary, lift your spirits, then ask yourself existential questions.
Because you can only improve your life with the positive, not the negative.
In fact, it’s not your fears and doubts that will help you build a happy life, but rather your hopes and dreams.
So don’t question anything when you’re feeling down. Take care of yourself. Enjoy yourself. The questions will come later.
