Are you feeling down and don’t know what to do? Does it seem like sadness is everywhere, or are you resisting it with all your might? I invite you to take a breath and read these 3 powerful advice to stop feeling sad.
1 – Understanding that we haven’t learned how to deal with sadness
We haven’t learned how to deal with sadness. In fact, we either ignore it, pretending that everything’s fine. Or we panic and cling to our sadness with all our might.
Whatever happens, the result is the same.
In fact, even when we resist sadness, sometimes for years, one day we finally give in. The result is a major breakdown, or even depression.
This is also what happens when we become afraid and cling to our sadness.
But why haven’t we learned to deal with sadness? How to get through it serenely?
It’s because, ever since we were little, we’ve been told that we should be happy, that we have no reason to complain.
We’ve been led to believe that sadness is when events are serious, in other words, that we have to lift our heads and say “not even bad”.
That’s why, today, when sadness falls upon us, when our spirits are low, we feel helpless.
Either we resist, or we hang on.
And we end up feeling sadder every day.
2 – Remember that life is too short to be sad
Yet sadness is natural, useful and temporary.
We don’t have to resist it, nor do we have to cling to it.
Sadness comes and goes, and that’s perfectly normal.
In fact, sadness is a signal, even an opportunity, to mourn, to better experience a lack.
Because it makes us slow down and pushes us to introspection. In other words, it helps us to reorganize.
Unfortunately, we tend to see sadness as an abyss into which we must not sink, and when we do, we believe that there is no end and that we’ll never get out.
Wrong!
Sadness is worth dwelling on for a few moments, but it’s not worth sinking into for years on end.
“Life is too short to be sad.
Indeed, that’s not why you’re here, to constantly fight sadness or sink into it.
Because as this quote goes, “Life’s too short to be sad.”

Because life is a gift.
Accept your sadness, stop resisting it or clinging to it.
3 – What to do when you’re feeling down
So what do you do when you’re feeling down? What do you do when you feel sad? How can we not resist it, and how can we not cling to it?
First of all, it’s about accepting sadness, seeing it for what it is: a natural, useful and fleeting emotion.
In fact, sadness makes you slow down.
So slow down.
Breathe, sit in nature, look at the sky.
Accept this weight on your chest: “I accept that I am sad at this moment.”
Also, don’t look for reasons to be sad. Not right away. Just be sad.
In fact, you’ll find that your sadness will ease after just a few minutes.
Finally, do something else.
Walk in nature, garden, write, paint, read, do crafts, sew, cook, do yoga…
Do something with your hands or feet, something creative or athletic.
Because that’s what your sadness needs to disappear in peace.
In fact, if you don’t do anything with your hands, you’ll stay in your thoughts and your thoughts will either push your sadness away or cling to it.
In other words, get out of your sad thoughts so you don’t stay sad any longer.
In fact, learn not to be afraid of your sadness any more, see it simply as a signal to slow down and as an opportunity to come back to yourself and get out of your thoughts.
For a long time, I was afraid of my sadness when I wasn’t feeling well. I even wondered if I wasn’t depressed, because I didn’t understand how natural, useful and temporary sadness is.
Today, everything is so different, so much sweeter.
That’s why I wholeheartedly advise you to follow these 3 advice that will soothe you and your everyday life.
