Regaining Self-Esteem After Heartbreak: 7 Great Tips

Heartbreak is an ordeal. A difficult ordeal that makes us doubt ourselves and creates a lot of fears. Fear of ending up alone. Fear of never being loved again. And, we start to judge ourselves, to criticize ourselves harshly. That’s why I’m sharing with you 7 great tips for regaining your self-esteem.
1 – Talking about heartbreak
Because we may be ashamed of our heartache, ashamed of having been left, and even ashamed of having left, we’re afraid of not being understood, afraid of being judged and even rejected, so we keep quiet.
And so we lock ourselves away with our thoughts, which are dark, gloomy and full of fears and negative judgments about ourselves.
That’s why, to regain self-esteem after a heartbreak, it’s essential to talk about it with those around you.
To have the courage to dare to ask to be listened to, supported and comforted.
And ifล there’s no one you can trust around you, talk it over with your doctor, a psychologist, a psychotherapist… Someone professional who knows how to listen.
Because at this difficult time in our lives, we’re not always our own best friend and advisor. In fact, our thoughts go round and round in our heads, hurting our heart, our soul and our self-esteem in the process.
Talk about it!
2 – Getting back into sport to boost self-esteem
After a heartbreak, we doubt ourselves and our ability to please and be loved again.
It’s only natural. Everyone doubts at times like these.
So, to quickly regain your self-esteem and reconcile with your body, it’s essential to get back into sport.
What’s more, sports sessions help to secrete endorphins, the happiness hormones, so thoughts become lighter and more positive.
In fact, this advice sounds simplistic, and it is. But it’s magic.
That’s why I wholeheartedly advise you to apply it as soon as possible.
Don’t question it. Go and join a gym at least 2 times a week, or sign up for yoga, zumba or boxing classes…
3 – Change of scenery and disconnect to regain self-esteem
When we experience heartbreak, fear regularly invades us and we want to go back quickly, to get back to our former life and its sense of security.
So we cling to our story that’s over, wander around the places we once knew and simply torture ourselves with whys and what-ifs.
That’s why, to stop hurting ourselves and regain our self-esteem, I wholeheartedly invite you to change your surroundings and even disconnect completely.
In concrete terms, go away for a few days, to a hotel or someone’s home.
Then turn off your phone.
Immerse yourself in the place you’re in, in the daily life of the person you’re staying with.
4 – Making stuff
After a heartbreak, sadness, fear or anger invite us to stay put and dwell on what hurts us.
We stay frozen, slumped on the sofa or under the comforter, thinking and torturing ourselves.
That’s why, to find yourself, to find the path to your life and your self-esteem, it’s essential to do things.
So, what’s doing stuff?
Doing stuff means going for a walk, reading, painting.
It’s even going dancing, going to the beach.
In fact, it’s stopping dwelling on our thoughts and getting moving.
To do this, we need to clap our hands, exhale a deep breath and say out loud, “I’m not going to bury myself alive and I’m going to take myself in hand.”
Because it’s not under the comforter that you’re going to rebuild yourself, it’s by getting back on the road of life, and fast!
After all, life is far too short to stand by the side of the road with your handkerchiefs.
5 – Don’t dwell on it, don’t think about why
When we experience heartache, our thoughts lead us to want to answer these kinds of questions: how did all this happen, how could it have happened to me, what did I do wrong, why am I so unlucky?
It’s normal to ask ourselves these kinds of questions; everyone asks them when they experience heartbreak.
But it’s essential not to dwell on them if you want to regain your self-esteem.
In fact, stop wasting your time trying to answer these questions.
Stop believing that it will change the past.
In fact, these questions only keep you in the past, when it’s high time to move on.
Personally, I think that when you’re going through heartbreak, it’s not by rolling up in a ball and lamenting that things are going to get better.
On the contrary, it’s by getting back on your feet, as best you can, of course, that things will get better. But how? But when? We don’t know. But that’s not up to us.
We just have to do our best. To cry when we need to and to get up every time we fall down. No more, no less.
6 – Don’t think about tomorrow to regain your self-esteem
As a rule, thinking about tomorrow makes us anxious, but during a heartbreak, it’s even worse.
That’s why the easiest thing to do is not to think about it (laughs).
I laugh, but it’s true.
Don’t think about it.
When you feel that your thoughts want you to think about it, come back to the present moment.
To do this, ask yourself: what am I going to do right now?
Because you’re going through a difficult time, a time when decisions are going to have to be made, give yourself time to calm down first, to clear your mind, to regain your self-esteem and even your confidence in the future.
Because the answers don’t come when you’re wracking your brains with thousands of parameters; the answers come by themselves, and they’re born in calm.
Calm of heart and mind.
So, calm yourself first.
You’ll get there, believe it with all your heart. That’s what it means to regain your self-esteem.
7 – Learning to be happy
It’s quite possible that you’ve realized that things haven’t been going well in your life for a while now, not only in your love life, but perhaps also in your personal life.
In fact, it’s quite possible that you’ve realized that you’d fallen asleep a little, that you’d let yourself go a little: maybe you weren’t taking care of yourself anymore, maybe you didn’t have too many personal projects.
It’s normal, it happens to everyone, every day.
That’s why, to regain your self-esteem, it’s time for you to take your happiness back into your own hands.
So keep reading articles like this. By the way, I heartily congratulate you on finding solutions to make yourself feel better. Keep reading. Don’t stop reading things that make you feel good.
Then apply the advice, the ones you like, the ones that soothe you.
Dare to change your habits, dare to take care of yourself and your happiness.
You’re capable of and deserve to be happy, and that’s how you’ll regain your self-esteem and self-confidence.
