Spiritual Awakening: 6 Tips For Getting Back To Basics

Spiritual awakening is a return to oneself, to one’s essence. Because, in the modern world, we often behave like machines. We don’t respect our needs, and that’s why malaise takes hold of us and the world. In other words, it’s high time we got back to being human. Here are 6 tips.
1 – Step aside
For me, spiritual awakening means opening up to something bigger than oneself in order to open up to oneself.
In fact, I discovered that I needed to connect to something bigger than myself, to the Universe as I call it, in order to come back to myself.
Indeed, in my quest for happiness, I plunged into the heart of personal development, and not without difficulty.
Because there are many pitfalls in personal development, not least the belief that you have to change to be a better person, and that if you use the Law of Attraction correctly, you can have anything you want (laughs).
I laugh, but that’s exactly what I’ve experienced, this belief that I can control everything, that I have to control everything, starting with myself.
And it was in this mad rush that I discovered spiritual awakening. This return to myself in calm and joy.
In fact, I like things simple, very simple. That’s why, for me, spiritual awakening is something very simple.
Indeed, for me, it’s about remembering throughout the day that I’m not a machine, but a human being. That I have a body, a heart, a mind, a soul, that all around me, inside me, is the Universe, as I like to call it, and that life is so much simpler and more beautiful than my mind would have me believe.
That’s how it is. It’s as simple as that for me. It’s this breath of oxygen that enlivens my heart and soothes my body and mind.
It’s a step aside that I take every day, sometimes even several times a day.
That’s why I wholeheartedly invite you to take a step aside at least once a day.
2 – Spiritual awakening: meditating on breathing
So, how do you take that step aside to experience the spiritual awakening that will help you find your essential self in calm and joy?
I invite you to meditate. It’s not the action I practice the most, but it’s the most effective, I’d say.
Indeed, when nothing goes right in our daily lives, when we’re exhausted and under tension, it’s high time to sit down.
Sit down and do nothing but breathe.
Our lives are so fast-paced and so demanding that we forget to breathe.
Yet it’s our breathing that best reminds us of our status as human beings, not machines.
And it’s our breathing that best reminds us how generous life is. All that air that lets us breathe without having to do anything. It’s powerful when you think about it.
That’s why I wholeheartedly invite you to sit down and meditate on your breathing. Just 2-3 minutes.
Taste the calm and joy that rise within you.
Remember: you’ve got nothing to do, nothing to prove, just to live.
This air is here for you, just like these 24 hours that have been offered to you today, without compensation.
So make the most of this day. Put calm and joy into it, not unnecessary stress. That’s not what you’re here for.
3 – Spiritual awakening: walking with awareness
My favorite way to experience spiritual awakening is to walk with awareness.
In fact, for me, the most precious reminder of my status as a human being and of the presence of something greater than myself, the Universe, is the sky.
Its immensity. The clouds, the colors. Have you ever seen how perfectly the blue of the sky and the green of nature harmonize?
Whereas if I wear a green top and a blue bottom, they don’t match at all… (laughs)
The sky and nature are magical!
And I love walking, every day, even several times a day, to remind myself of my status as a human being.
Of this time I have as a gift, but which will one day be taken away from me, perhaps even without notice.
Because it reminds me to get back to my essence, to what’s essential, to stop worrying about things that don’t really matter.
Indeed, for me, spiritual awakening is something as simple and joyful as this thought: “I’m lucky to be alive.”
That’s why I wholeheartedly invite you to walk in awareness regularly.
4 – Writing
For me, spiritual awakening isn’t something constant, it’s a series of realizations throughout the day.
In fact, during my afternoon stroll, I experience the calm and joy of spiritual awakening.
Then I return home, and new concerns take hold of me.
Finally, it’s time to go to bed, and I have one more action that allows me once again to take a step aside from this preposterous idea that I’m a machine, that I have to go fast and do better and better, and this action is writing.
In a notebook, I write about my day, about how I feel. I write down my anger, my sadness, my stress. I write my joys and gratitudes.
I always end with these words: “I thank you with all my heart, beautiful Universe.”
That way, I can go to bed with my heart in peace and joy.
Because for me, that’s what spiritual awakening is all about. It’s the blend of these two states: calm and joy.
It’s strange, magical!
I love the word “magic”. Because, for me, life is magic. My body is magic, the air that enters my body is magic. My beating heart is magic. The weather I receive, it’s magic. The sky above my head is magic.
5 – Spiritual awakening: read the right books
Spiritual awakening didn’t just happen to me. In fact, I discovered this state, which I call “spiritual awakening”, but which may seem quite simple and simplistic to some people, through my reading.
In fact, I read a lot of personal development books, and little by little, I started reading books on spirituality.
And I loved it! Because words have such great power, and I read some very good authors who guided me towards the peace and joy that are essential to my life.
That’s why I wholeheartedly invite you to read books on spirituality too, to let yourself be guided by words.

6 – Have good habits
Of course, everything I’ve just told you will help you only if you make good habits of it.
In fact, meditating once or walking once isn’t going to work.
In fact, you’re going to have to do it regularly.
So, how do you go about it?
I invite you to choose 1 action out of the 4 and commit to doing it once a day for the next 3 weeks.
It doesn’t have to be a lot. On the contrary, start small.
Imagine you choose meditation: commit to meditating for 3 minutes every day for 3 weeks. That’s all there is to it.
If it’s walking, commit to walking 10 minutes every day for 3 weeks.
Because if you ask yourself too many questions, your mind will come up with a whole bunch of fake excuses not to do things. That’s called procrastination. (laughs)
In fact, remember that you’re not here to be a perfect person and have a perfect life, you’re here to learn, grow and evolve.
That’s why start somewhere and start small.
Because the goal is to get there, not to get there.
That’s one of the most beautiful lessons I like to remind myself of when I take that famous step aside to taste what I call “spiritual awakening”.
