We’re just a few days away from Christmas, and I’m getting a lot of question about how to behave at this time of year with your ex. Indeed, while families are getting together and having a good time, you’re going through a painful time, which is particularly difficult to overcome during this period. You’re far from the only person who is or will be experiencing this feeling.

It’s true that being single isn’t very pleasant, because you’d like to have someone by your side when you go to visit your nearest and dearest, you’d like to receive the gift of a man or woman who loves you, but you don’t count on it too much and in the end the most beautiful present you’d like to get would be a second chance. More than being single, it’s the break-up that puts you in this state.

THE HOLIDAYS: A DIFFICULT TIME TO SPEND ALONE
Christmas has become much more than a religious event. All over the world, people are getting ready to spend the evening with their families and open presents on the 24th or 25th at the foot of the Christmas tree. Children have been talking about this day since Halloween, and you only have to turn on your TV to understand what this holiday symbolizes. Unfortunately, if you’re on your own, you’d rather not talk about it. It’s true that these images of happy people, of couples spending New Year’s Eve in bliss, stir the pot a little more.

A break-up is always a difficult event to accept and get over, but I tend to think that during this period, getting depressed in love is perhaps worse. Of course, getting dumped in March or September hurts just as much, but I’m talking about the “post-breakup” situation, the morale, the way to rebuild.

You tell yourself that the year is going to end badly, that you won’t be able to enjoy these moments, which should be wonderful, because you won’t be smiling. There’s no need to worry about your spirits dropping when you see everyone else having a good time. Of course, your mind remains focused on your ex and the means of getting him/her back, but your friends and family will find the words to comfort you. It’s also the ideal time, because you’ll be in a different setting from your daily routine, so you’ll be able to take your mind off things more easily.

YOU CAN AVOID QUESTIONS!
The problem with trying to get your ex back at Christmas is that morale is often low at this time of year, as I explained earlier. The cold, the bad weather, seeing the happiness on the faces of the people around you… That’s why you have to redouble your efforts when you want to stop feeling the lack during this period.

You mustn’t think that if you don’t have dinner with him/her, if you don’t spend the end of the year together, it’s all over. On the contrary, you can use this period to rekindle feelings – I’ll come back to this a little later.

As in any reconquest, it’s above all you that you need to win back. Celibacy, loneliness and the announcement of your separation have inevitably left their mark, even if you tell yourself otherwise and want to remain strong in the eyes of those around you.

Nevertheless, it’s important to accept the break-up and its consequences so that you can move on and no longer feel these problems.

There’s a kind of pressure when you’re single, during those times when everyone’s back with their families. There can be discomfort with loved ones, who are bound to ask questions about the reasons for the break-up. So it’s best to set the record straight right from the start of the festivities.

In fact, it’s not uncommon for your parents or other close relations to tell you that it’s time to find someone, for your siblings who are relatives to talk to you about it too, for people to ask you why you’re alone when a few months ago you were still with your ex and you still haven’t digested the decision taken by your ex-half.

All these questions and thoughts are not easy to hear. That’s why it’s so important not to let it get you down, especially as you can use Christmas or New Year’s Day to get closer to your ex.

GETTING YOUR EX BACK AT CHRISTMAS: THE PERFECT TIME!
The holidays can still be a great way to get closer to your ex, because you can re-establish communication without coming across as needy. If you live under the same roof, for example, or if you have children, you’re bound to make an effort towards each other for their sake and to lighten the mood. Even if you’re not spending New Year’s Eve together, there’s nothing to stop you taking advantage of the festive atmosphere and the vacations to take stock and subtly get back to him/her.

I’m one of those people who thinks that showering your ex-partner with presents to win him/her back isn’t a good idea, but during this period you can make an exception. You don’t have to break the bank, but offering chocolates, for example, is always a good idea. Of course, it all depends on the relationship you have, so if 3 days ago you were pestering him/her with messages, don’t come back like a flower!

If you’re in radio silence over the holidays and want to break it, this is the perfect time to do it. You can send a text for Christmas, call your ex for the New Year. It can be a sad time, but it doesn’t have to be if you do the right things. You can use it to your advantage to give your win-back a boost before the end of the year.
