But what can you do when you’re bored? In this article, you’ll find tried-and-tested ideas to make your own.

TIME IS YOUR MOST PRECIOUS RESOURCE

Before you jump on the list of ideas to keep you busy (and since you have a few minutes to spare ), I wanted to make it clear that you won’t find things like watching a series or doing your nails.

Of course, you can do these things if they give you pleasure.

But I’m convinced that our time is our most precious resource. More precious than money, that is! So if we lose 50 dollars, we can earn it back later. On the other hand, a minute lost is a minute we’ll never get back.

So it’s up to us to make the most of the time we’re given by creating a daily life that’s a source of joy and meaning. A life made to measure.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU’RE BORED

1st thing to do when you’re bored: take stock
No two people experience boredom in the same way. That’s why I suggest you start by taking stock of your boredom.

For example, before I created Full of Happiness, I was busy all the time, both at work and in my private life. Yet I still felt bored. The feeling that I was always waiting for things to get interesting…

AND YOU, WHAT SITUATION(S) ARE YOU IN?

I’m bored because I have things to do, but I can’t get started.
I’m bored because I really have nothing to do.
I’m like you, I’m bored despite my busy days.

If you’re in situation n°1, i.e. you’re looking for anything else to do other than what you have to do, that’s called procrastination.

And if you’re bored because you don’t know what to do (situation n°2), you’ll find below a few rewarding ideas for keeping busy when you’re bored.

KEEPING BUSY WHEN YOU’RE BORED

Listen to a guided mindfulness meditation.
Listen to music without doing anything else, just enjoying it.
Create (and adopt) your morning or evening routine
Plan your next outing as a couple, with family or friends.
Create your bullet journal (an organizational and personal development tool).
Keep a diary
Plan your next vacation.
Set yourself a new personal or professional goal.
Research a subject you’re passionate about on the Internet.
Create a blog or Youtube channel on a topic you’re passionate about.
If you don’t have a passion, do some research on the Internet on a theme that appeals to you (cooking, dancing, history, sports, singing, writing, etc.). Then try out the activity for real, or meet people with similar interests (associations, facebook groups, etc.).
Get a head start on your Christmas presents or upcoming birthdays.
Read a book.
Create a positive affirmation to motivate yourself.
Cook your favorite dish (or do any other manual activity you enjoy).
Practice developing your intuition.

BORED EVEN WHEN YOU’RE BUSY
Do you get bored even when you’re busy? I know the feeling! The good news is that you can change things – I’m living proof.

It would be wrong to say that I didn’t enjoy anything in my previous life, but overall I was bored despite my busy days. And as I said above, I felt like I was waiting for things to get interesting.

In short, I was waiting for life to give me my place. Whereas life waits for us to tell it what place we want. So I could have waited a long time.

So here are a few guidelines to help you create, step by step, your own tailor-made life. In other words, a fulfilling life, full of meaning and in which you won’t get bored:

Stop waiting for things to get interesting. It’s up to you to take charge and make things interesting.
Start realigning your daily life with who you are.
Learn to listen to your fears.
Give more meaning to your daily life.
Organize your week so that you have time to create your own life.
Discover what you really want in life.
Find your life mission.
Learn from your failures and mistakes.
Take action.
Regain your motivation after a slump.
