Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of extraordinary destinies, ordinary men and women who have had extraordinary lives.

Today, I’m going to tell you three little anecdotes about some very famous people.

THE FIRST PERSON IS STEPHEN KING
Do you know how many rejections Stephen King received from publishers when he submitted his first manuscript, Carrie? Carrie is now a world-famous book that has been translated into several languages. Well, he must have been turned down 30 times. He was turned down 30 times, and he persevered to get his book published.

Another anecdote about Stephen King and his request to publish his book Carrie: in a moment of discouragement, he threw his manuscript in the garbage can and it was his wife who retrieved the manuscript and told him “no, you’ve got talent, you’ve got to persevere and you’re going to keep going to publishers to get published”. He was turned down 30 times, and it was the 31st time that he was accepted, after which he had the success we all know. He had an extraordinary life.

THE SECOND ANECDOTE CONCERNS TIM FERRISS.
Tim Ferris is not necessarily well known to the general public. He’s very well known among bloggers for a book called The Four-Hour Week, which is an essential bestseller if you want to make a living on the Internet. Today, Tim Ferris’s book is ranked N°1 in the New York Times bestseller list. So he’s a world-renowned author.

He was rejected 26 times before a publisher trusted him with his first book.

We saw with Stephen King that he was rejected 30 times before his first book was published, and Tim Ferris was rejected 26 times. He’s the second writer we’ve seen today.

I admire the perseverance of these men who believe in their talent, their dream, and who want to go all the way, even if their project is rejected. They will persevere, persevere, persevere, until they achieve success.

THE THIRD PERSON IS THOMAS EDISON
Here’s a well-known quote that’s close to my heart and that I find exceptional when it comes to perseverance. He said: “I’ve never failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work. I never got discouraged because every failure is a step forward.”

He said this about inventing the light bulb. He didn’t fail 10,000 times before inventing a light bulb, but he did find 10,000 ways not to create a light bulb. It was thanks to his failures that he was able to advance, progress and one day succeed in inventing the light bulb, and many other inventions.

These are the three anecdotes I wanted to share with you today: Stephen King, Tim Ferriss and Thomas Edison, who are ordinary people with extraordinary destinies thanks to their perseverance, belief in their project, and talent. Will you be as persistent as these men?
