Today, it’s harder than ever to come to terms with your curves. Indeed, most of us – at one time or another – have felt uncomfortable in our own skin. As we age, we also become more conscious of our appearance. This tendency to be too hard on ourselves is amplified by the beauty models and movie stars who flood our daily lives. These figures of “perfect plasticity” often grace the covers of magazines.
They fill our news feeds on social networks/media and often appear on our favorite TV shows. So while we want to be at peace with our bodies, it’s even more difficult in practice. But it’s a must if you want to improve your daily life.
Accepting your curves: why do you need to work on this?
It can be hard to accept your curves these days. It can be hard to like what we see in the mirror when the world around us preaches the need to have a perfect figure. This reality, which encourages us to spend all our free time in the gym, is certainly more obvious for women. But this phenomenon is gradually reaching men too.
Society’s diktats are pushing us, pushing us and forcing us to resemble these models straight out of Hollywood. Often, it’s not even those around us who encourage us to see the world in this way. It’s our minds, our imaginations and our thoughts that do it for us. We begin to mistakenly believe that, to please, we have to be modeled like this or that celebrity. Fortunately, body positivism has also become a growing phenomenon. The major brands are expanding their target audiences. The little thoughts they give to curvaceous women mean that a large number of consumers are now embracing their curves.

The benefits of accepting your curves go far beyond self-acceptance
Accepting your curves also has a number of benefits, some of which you might never have imagined.
Loving yourself also means loving others. It’s often said on Full of Happiness, but loving yourself reinforces the desire to love others (and not the desire to be loved). If this isn’t the case, we’re more likely to expect these people (partner, family, friends, etc.) to fill the void for us. And that’s where emotional dependence begins. But accepting your curves means loving yourself, being proud of who you are. This newly acquired self-confidence will be felt in your posture, in your walk, in your everyday life.
Accepting your curves also inspires others to do the same. When you see yourself struggling with food every day, you’re also imposing your struggle on those around you. Your children will then be more likely to reproduce the same pattern later on. Learning to love yourself, on the other hand, will set a better example. Who knows, maybe you’ll inspire someone else around you to do the same.
You’ll give your married life a whole new dynamic. When you’re ashamed of your body, you’ll always try to hide it. It will be your main preoccupation. It goes without saying that it’s impossible to give yourself over to romance in such a context. Accepting your curves, on the other hand, offers the opportunity to discover new things, to experience new things. Maybe now you’re preventing yourself from spending a romantic day at the beach because of it? Or maybe you refuse to go to an evening out because getting dolled up isn’t for you? In short, there are lots of experiences you could be missing out on simply because you’re not at peace with yourself, let alone your relationship.

Accepting your curves is a journey – which can sometimes take a long time – not a goal to be achieved at all costs. If you think of it that way, it would be an ordeal. And that’s not the point. You have to enjoy it. So consider each step as an experience that will gradually guide you towards self-knowledge.

Change the way you talk! If you describe your body as a prison, a nightmare or an ugly thing, it’s bound to become one. Describe it as uninteresting and repulsive, and it will be. Your thoughts dictate your reality. Never forget that.
So swap all that negativity for positive affirmations! Stand in front of the mirror every morning and find at least one new thing you like (or love) about what you see. Accepting your curves starts with that.
Adopt a better state of mind too! Instead of focusing every minute on your appearance, think about living… quite simply. Live life to the full. Ever wanted to travel to the other side of the world? Go for it. Fancy a trip in a hot-air balloon? Take the plunge. Or maybe it’s more of a safari in Africa? Go for it. What’s your wildest dream? Work on it.
Down with dieting! Tired of yo-yo effects and the depression that comes with food deprivation? Change your approach. Instead, start by learning how to eat better, normally. Listen to your body: eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re full. As long as your health isn’t at risk, don’t put pressure on yourself.
Instead, learn to look your best again! Accepting your curves also means liking what you see in the mirror. So stop hiding your curves and show them off. If you can’t do it on your own, ask someone close to you or a professional for help.
