In this article, I’m going to deal with a subject that concerns a great many people who have suffered in their love lives, but not only. Indeed, the fear of love, the fear of commitment, concerns a great many stories, and I’m becoming increasingly aware that more and more people are finding it difficult to deal with this anxiety, and are therefore making certain mistakes. However, the fear of love is not inevitable. You can change this and find a balance in love, but that also requires self-love!
It’s a problem we’ve all faced before, because it’s said that the fears we feel in love eventually come true. The more your partner, or you, think negatively, the more you jeopardize your relationship.
How can we fight fear in love? How to overcome the fear of suffering in love? How can you live with and accept your emotional past without being afraid of being in a relationship? The time has come to understand why you think the way you do, and above all it’s time for me to bring you concrete solutions that will help you feel better and get back on track emotionally.
IS IT NORMAL TO BE AFRAID IN LOVE?
Let’s answer that question right away: Yes, of course! And not just in love, either. Fear is part of life in general, but when you want to move forward, it’s essential to fight it and put it aside, or at least keep this negative feeling under control.
You shouldn’t blame yourself at all because you don’t always feel good, or because love is scary. As I said in my introduction, the fear of love has touched us all at least once. I often tend to remind people, and if you’ve been following my articles for some time you’ll know what I’m referring to:

The most beautiful moments of your life will come from love, whether it’s marriage, children, family vacations, etc… But the most difficult moments too, with the death of the one you love for example, but also a failure in love such as a separation or divorce.
Fear and love are linked by several factors:
- approaching a woman/man you’re attracted to
- Telling your partner what you don’t like about him/her
- Losing an ex for good after a break-up.
- Suffering in love and therefore not being yourself on a daily basis.
- Giving away your trust because you’re anticipating betrayal and so, in a way, it’s a fear of commitment!
It’s normal to be afraid in love. The stakes are too high for us to put them aside.
However, you need to fight your fear of love today, so that you don’t experience disillusionment again! If you let the negative get the better of you, you run the risk of not having any more opportunities to live happily ever after.

Fear is one of the strongest feelings. We can’t control it, and it often determines all our future actions. This is how we make mistakes, how we stop behaving rationally, and how we gradually move towards the situation we were dreading! Of course, it’s normal to be afraid of love, but we mustn’t let our fears overwhelm us.
Fear in love has the ability to annihilate our instincts and make us think twice before acting or speaking. That’s why we’re not really interested in the fear of falling in love or the fear of being in love, but rather in how to control your emotions.
It’s logical to say “love scares me”, but it’s not on feelings or the future that you should focus your energy, but rather on self-confidence and emotions, because these are the elements that will really help you to move forward and solidify your relationship.
Unfortunately, it’s when we over-analyze a situation that we make mistakes. By procrastinating, looking back, thinking about what you can or can’t do, you’re not moving forward.
It’s a bit like breaking your phone screen. You regret having put it on the end of the table, you hesitate to get another one or to go and fix it, you try to patch it up a bit but 3 days later your phone is still in the same state. You haven’t followed through and you’ve procrastinated. In love – and this is more serious than with a broken object – this habit constantly returns. That’s why you need to act now to combat your love phobia.
HOW TO OVERCOME THE FEAR OF LOVE: 3 TIPS TO APPLY!
To get rid of your fear of love, whether you’re already in a relationship or not, it’s important to apply certain methods that will help you find the right balance. And please note that the word “love” does not mean dependence, so don’t imagine for a moment that you have to put your partner on a pedestal and say I love him/her too much.
You’re going to have to analyze the situation.
At what point do you get carried away? What are the words that go beyond your thoughts? Are you able to apologize?
These 3 questions will enable you to put out a fire by immediately questioning yourself and identifying the primary source of your fear.
At the same time, it’s essential that you continue to build your own universe, always telling yourself that solutions exist to overcome a problem. In fact, the fear of falling in love, or rather the way to overcome this anxiety, takes place beforehand and not just when you have doubts. By then, it’s already too late!
GAIN SELF-CONFIDENCE SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO SAY “I’M AFRAID TO LOVE” ANY MORE
To combat fear in love, or rather the fear of love, you need to work on your personal development to get to know yourself better and understand your own limits. Most of the time, we don’t believe in ourselves, so we can’t blossom. If you don’t love yourself, it will be difficult to find happiness as a couple or in love.
I realized that the couples that last the longest are those built by two people in full confidence. As long as you’re happy with your life, you can be happy with each other and, above all, not think negatively.
To sum up, even if love is scary, it’s essential not to focus on the negative aspects. Love should never be synonymous with a lack of self-confidence, and you need to fight against the need for constant reassurance. That’s why forcing yourself to love is not the solution.
And keep in mind that the actions you need to take are first and foremost about you!
DON’T LOOK FOR THE PERFECT RELATIONSHIP!
Love and fear are often linked because you’re basing yourself on elements that aren’t necessarily the right ones. You don’t have to look for the perfect relationship – quite the opposite! Don’t be fooled by what you see in films, TV series or even cartoons, because it has nothing to do with real life…
Even the strongest, happiest couples have arguments and even crises. There’s no such thing as a perfect life together and/or with your family from Monday morning to Sunday evening!
I’m sorry to disappoint you, but knowing this will help you put less pressure on yourself, because life together isn’t always rosy. But you can adapt. But if you’re afraid of making mistakes, if you’re afraid of being one of those many relationships that end in a break-up, you run the risk of missing out on unforgettable moments and not fully living your love relationship to the full.
FOCUS ON HAPPINESS, NOT COMMITMENT
The fear of being in love, like the fear of falling in love, also stems from the fact that you don’t focus enough on the moments together. Rather than questioning yourself and constantly being in doubt, why not simply go out and share a good time with your partner? Why not just enjoy life? Ask yourself! No, in fact, instead of asking yourself the question, do something about it!
Having a phobia of love and preventing yourself from living is a vicious circle, because in reality you’ll never experience any great moments, especially as a couple. Don’t try to stay with the same person for 20 years, don’t count the number of times he/she says “I love you”. Don’t focus on the details, live in happiness and simply enjoy life! The more moments you share, the stronger you’ll make your relationship! And that’s what will make you totally forget your fear of love.
Take a look at your past and you’ll see that you’ve always managed to bounce back, even if love sometimes hurts. Now it’s time to fight your fear of love and move forward even more serenely. Whether you’re in a relationship or looking for love, it’s this positive philosophy of life that you need to have!
