The 4 Rules For Feeling Good About Yourself!

Achieving happiness is much simpler than you think, but it requires a complete change of mindset to find the true source of well-being and inner peace. But nothing comes naturally, and everything requires effort and work. There are people who, when they were younger, were unbearably shy, but who gradually overcame this shortcoming to gain in charisma. So yes, you too can feel good about yourself!
DON’T WORRY, YOU CAN’T PLEASE EVERYONE
To feel good about yourself, you need to be aware of something that may seem trivial, but is always worth remembering. “You can’t please everyone”. If you start from this principle, and really apply it, you’ll see that your life will change completely, in fact it will be turned upside down.
I still see every day that too many people want to be just like their neighbor (when I say neighbor, I mean parents, cousins, friends…). So-and-so bought this or that, so I have to show that I can do it too. We’re led to believe that feeling good about oneself inevitably has something to do with one’s social standing, which is totally wrong.
If you seek the approval of others through the actions you take, you’ll find it hard to feel fulfilled, because you’ll always find someone who has something to say and who will criticize you. So you need to convince yourself that your happiness doesn’t depend on how others look at you. When you buy a car, for example, do it for yourself and not in anticipation of the reaction of the people who will see you behind the wheel. The reason is simple: if you want people to notice you and you end up being criticized for your choice, then you’ll have doubts and be disappointed. If, on the other hand, you buy a model because it’s the one you want and not another, then you won’t take other people’s opinions into account and you’ll be really happy to be able to drive it every day.
Don’t forget that other people’s jealousy sometimes causes them to have a rejection reaction, so they’re likely to criticize you. Ignore them and carry on as you please.
GET TO KNOW YOURSELF, BUT ABOVE ALL, LOVE YOURSELF
The other rule for feeling good about yourself is to learn to love yourself as you are. Year after year, the diktat of beauty grows stronger. For you ladies, it started with breast implants, then botox and now it’s all about ultra-collagen lips. For you gentlemen, it’s abdominoplasty, baldness and facelifts.
I’m going to make a confession that may surprise you. It’s all in the head.
Not that I’m a fan of reality TV, but it’s a bit of a reflection of society. All these handsome young people live in a totally superficial world. Despite what they’d have us believe, we quickly realize that the girls, even though they’re naturally pretty, lack confidence and don’t appreciate each other.
I know that looks can be important, but there’s an even more important parameter. Self-confidence. You may be the most beautiful person in the world, but if you can’t reach out to others, you’re unlikely to find your soulmate. If, on the other hand, you love yourself, then you’ll find it easier to reach out to others, take chances and take risks, and that’s what’s essential if you want to feel good about yourself.
To feel good about yourself, you have to feel alive.
SETTING GOALS TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF
To feel fulfilled, you need to set yourself goals on a daily basis. Because yes, feeling good about yourself can be learned and worked on! Once again, you have to do it for yourself and not so that others have a certain image of you. As in every field, progress is slow and difficult, but if you put your mind to it, you’ll achieve results.
However, the prerequisite for achieving these effects is to know your weaknesses or the areas you need to work on. Knowing yourself is the key to moving forward and setting the right goals.
You need to prioritize the areas you feel are most important, i.e. those you feel are most lacking. It’s often useful to call on a specialist to draw up an action plan, but above all to have a neutral, global view of the situation. For example, certain things may seem essential to you, when in fact there’s no urgency at all. On the other hand, there are things you can do to feel good about yourself that you may not be aware of, and that need to be put in place right from the start.
In the same way, a specialist can help you plan your actions so you can get into the right rhythm. I’ve noticed that most people want to skip steps or go much too fast. The consequences are dramatic, simply because by doing so, you risk burning your wings. You probably know the story of the tortoise and the hare? Well, it’s the same story when it comes to well-being. If you want to get going too fast and set your goals too high, you’ll find it hard to achieve them. The risk is that, if you don’t manage to get results, you’ll get discouraged and end up stopping your efforts and therefore your exercises. So it’s better to set achievable goals without aiming too high, but to practice them regularly.
Before you walked on two legs, you walked on all fours… To feel good about yourself, you need to take things one step at a time. There’s no point in turning up the heat for 3 days and then stopping. Instead, you need to encourage a slower, but regular, daily progression.
STOP WANTING MORE
A new state of mind that contradicts what is imposed on you is the key to feeling good about yourself. Always wanting more is human nature, or at least it’s the view we’re taught from an early age.
Yet it’s this philosophy of life that leads millions of people, perhaps even billions, to feel bad about themselves. We have to accept that this perpetual forward march must come to an end, because that’s the way to never be satisfied with anything.
To live happily and feel good about yourself, you need to appreciate what you have, both materially and in other areas.
